(Sad) Clown Of The Week: Michael Avenatti

Week of July 9, 2021

This week’s Clown of the Week is convicted extortionist, former CNN mainstay and self-aggrandizing train-wreck Michael Avenatti, who reportedly cried in court on Thursday when sentenced to 30 months in federal prison for attempting to extort nearly $25M from ‘woke’ sports-apparel maker Nike.

Michael Avenatti, (Sad) Clown of the Week for July 9, 2021

Avenatti, a former attorney, had a long history of frivolous lawsuits, unpaid bills, unsatisfied bankruptcy obligations and general scumbaggery before becoming famous in 2018. He achieved overnight fame when he represented adult entertainer Stormy Daniels in a lawsuit against then-sitting President Donald Trump, asserting unsubstantiated allegations of sexual assault against the former President. Avenatti was immediately heralded by the Democrat-Media Complex and became a fixture on left-wing cable news outlets for much of 2018. Later that year, Avenatti represented Julie Swetnick, making unsubstantiated allegations against then-Judge Brett Kavanaugh as part of a larger effort by the Radical Axis (Dem party, MSM & Big Tech) to derail Kavanaugh’s Supreme Court nomination. He claimed that Swetnick was drugged and subsequently gang-raped at a party in which Judge Kavanaugh was in attendance in the early 1980s. Swetnick would later recant her allegations and claim that Avenatti misrepresented her statements to him.

Avenatti became so popular among left-wing pundits that he announced he was exploring the possibility of a presidential run against Donald Trump in 2020. That would-be campaign was derailed pretty quickly when Avenatti was arrested (the first time) in November of 2018 on domestic violence charges in California. By February of the following year, the LA District Attorney’s office announced that they would decline to prosecute Avenatti. This was his one and only “get out of jail free because I’m useful to the Democratic party” card. The dominoes fell pretty quickly after that.

One month later, in March of 2019, Avenatti was arrested in New York City and charged with attempted extortion of Nike for almost $25M. Just one more month after that, in April of 2019, Avenatti was indicted by a grand jury back in California for embezzlement and fraud. In June of 2019 Avenatti was disbarred by the California Bar Association – he was famously arrested during the court recess of that disbarment proceeding for violating terms of his bond release by structuring financial transactions in a manner intended to hide them from the State. …An unmitigated train-wreck if ever there was one.

Perhaps the most shocking part of Avenatti’s legacy is the immediacy with which Radical Axis media outlets elevated this man to prominence. Michael Avenatti’s past was not hidden from view; the “journalists” at these major media outlets had surely vetted him and yet they amplified his voice knowing full well that he was highly suspect and the accusations he was lobbing were transparently fraudulent. Here’s a three and a half minute video montage of his TV career. Enjoy…
