“More Impressive Than Winning?” – The Media’s Handling of Simone Biles’ Olympic Walk-off is ABSURD

This story is a quintessential example of the difference between the Cultural Left and the Cultural Right.

Simone Biles choked on Tuesday… pure and simple. It happens in the sports world all the time…We shouldn’t jump all over Simone Biles and rub salt in her wound, but at the same time we shouldn’t glorify it either. The Mainstream Media doesn’t see it that way – they think it’s heroic.

Look, let’s clear something up right now; my beef here is not with Simone Biles per se, it’s with how the media is handling Simone Biles’ sudden withdrawal from competition right before the finals for “mental health” reasons. I am unaware of any political outburst by the veteran Gymnast, and therefore I am not placing her in the same category as the “woke” clowns on the US Women’s Soccer and Men’s Basketball teams.

After her unexpected withdrawal, just before Team USA gymnastics moved onto the finals (where they lost to their rival Russian team), the 24 year-old Olympic veteran explained her sudden exit to the media:

“It’s been very stressful, this Olympic Games, just as a whole — not having an audience, there are a a lot of different variables going into it. It’s been a long week, it’s been a long Olympic process, it’s been a long year, so just a lot of different variables and I think we’re just a little bit too stressed out but we should be out there having fun and sometimes that’s not the case… Today has been really stressful, we had a workout this morning and it went OK and then just that five-and-a-half hour wait or something, I was just shaking, could barely nap, I just never felt like this going into a competition before and tried to go out there and have fun … once I came out here I was like, ‘No, mental is not there so I just need to let the girls do it and focus on myself.’ ” (emphasis added)

Simone Biles

Simone Biles choked on Tuesday… pure and simple. It happens in the sports world all the time. I’ll be the first one to admit that, not only do I certainly lack the talent to do what she does, but I don’t think I could handle that kind of pressure either. We shouldn’t jump all over Simone Biles and rub salt in her wound, but at the same time we shouldn’t glorify it either. The Mainstream Media doesn’t see it that way – they think it’s heroic.

The headlines are the absolute height of absurdity. Here are a few examples:

She choked! Just say it! It doesn’t make you racist or sexist… she’s 24… a grown woman for goodness sake. By her age many of us have obtained advanced degrees, served multiple tours of duty in the military and/or have children of our own.

Tennis star Naomi Osaka made similar headlines earlier this year when she pulled out of the French Open, and later Wimbledon, due to “social anxiety.” As the star of the Japanese team (she renounced her American citizenship to qualify to play tennis for Japan in the Olympics – although she still primarily resides in her $7 million home in Beverly Hills, CA), Osaka went into the Olympic games with very high expectations. She choked on Tuesday as well, losing to Marketa Vondrousova of the Czech Republic in the third round of the Tournament.

Only in neo-liberal clownworld can an athlete’s refusal to even perform be” …more impressive than winning.” Our enemies in China, Russia and Iran are laughing at us. Never in my life have I seen the US display such weakness on the world stage; it’s truly infuriating.

  1. I agree, if the media cares so much about those suffering from mental health why aren’t they urging Biden to step down? Blacks can do no wrong this year. There’s a new black cast member on Below Deck that was so rude to the white chef that he quit leaving the captain high and dry. She was calling him a efing idiot under her breath and telling the rest of the crew that she was more educated than them. One can only take so much crap from a braggadocio BLM girl without losing one’s temper. They are a liability wherever they are hired this year, even the Olympics. IMO.
