Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) was suspended from Twitter on August 11 for one week (suspension still effect) for claiming that “…the masks you get over the counter don’t work. They don’t prevent infection,” and “we don’t have to accept the mandates, lockdowns, and harmful policies of the petty tyrants and feckless bureaucrats… we can simply say no, not again.” Not only is Rand Paul a sitting United States Senator, elected by the roughly 4.5 million people of the State of Kentucky to represent them at the national level, he is also a licensed Medical Doctor. Nevertheless, the Senator’s very moderate claims that some masks don’t work, got him suspended from Twitter for one week.
During the course of his suspension, on August 16, news broke across the U.S. that about the Taliban’s takeover of Kabul, Afghanistan. As President Biden continues to hide out at Camp David and Jen Psaki’s email continues to autoreply an “out of the office” message, Taliban leaders continue to Tweet freely.
Texas Representative Dan Chrehshaw called out Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey on his own platform for this hypocrisy; specifically as it relates to the continued lifetime ban of former U.S. President Donald Trump.
Twitter and Jack Dorsey have not commented on the accusations of hypocrisy. Just to reiterate – Twitter is actively banning former President Trump and sitting Senator Rand Paul while ALLOWING Taliban leaders, who have actively waged war against our U.S. Service members for twenty years, advocate for a society that sentences adulterous women to “death by stoning” and is confiscating weapons through out the city of Kabul as I write this article.
